Originally from Britain, I made Michigan my home before retiring here to Portugal. I enjoy photographing all the beautiful places I have visited. Continuing to use photography as an art form in and of itself and sometimes a source for my painting.
I love painting, exploring different media and techniques. I have no formal art education but hesitate to use the term self-taught as that implies a life in isolation, when in truth artists learn from nature, books, other artists and observation of the world. I hope never to stop learning.
Animals and nature are the main inspiration for my paintings. I love animals and every animal has a story to tell and its own niche in our world. The tales we weave around animals and nature especially early Celtic and Pagan beliefs in making sense of the world inspire me.
I love history, old buildings and castles, painting landscapes both rural and urban. I don't confine myself to just paper or canvas but burn and paint my designs on wood. I have ventured into weaving and making art with tapestry. In fact I enjoy many creative crafts including knitting and embroidery and just making the functional beautiful.
