Animal Dreams Painted Window

Picture
Animal Dreams Window $575
This reclaimed window has eight panes and in each pane there is a different animal story. I called it Animal Dreams, animals dreaming and the dreams we have of animals or what we imagine animals might dream of. The window measures 43x27ins.

The Animal Dreams window against a white wall. Each detail is drawn in gold "leading" and the colours applied in several layers for depth.
Each pane tells a story of Animal Dreams:
The Barn Owl as they look white and ghostly when in flight. One is sitting on a tree stump holding his supper - some poor field mouse - while the other soars against the moon- filled sky looking for prey. Owls are Celtic symbols of wisdom and patience. Swift and silent hunters believed to be guides to and through the underworld.
Horses in iridescent colours sparkling night-mares amongst the stars bringing dreams. Are you ready to ride with them to other worlds? Horses were very important to Celtic culture essential to the Celtic peoples' mobility, status and survival in a very harsh world.
Wolves for me, epitomize the notion of family. The Celts didn't get it wrong when they saw wolves as the symbol for loyalty and devotion.
Hares have featured in many mythologies through the ages, not just Celtic culture. The first full moon after the vernal equinox is considered a Hare Moon. Early cultures saw a hare on the moon's surface, the pattern in its topography, which can be seen as it approaches fullness. There are tales of hares moon gazing!
The Fox is found in many folk tales from around the world, known for its cunning and almost magical ability to whisk chickens from the hen house. More likely due to the farmer's neglect to lock up at night, or the disrepair of hen houses allowing easy access rather than an appearance of our mystical friend Reynard.
Bears Many stories surround the bear on most continents from early times. The great bear, Ursa Major, and the constellation of Ursa Minor figure large in these myths and legends. The bears here are returning to the stars whence they came.
Cats have been associated with many myths, legends and superstitions over the years.  The Celts thought they were the reincarnated, able to see into the future.
Kestrels soaring and swooping over open ground. The blue sky their realm.
